We had such a fabulous Christmas weekend! We headed to Logan on Christmas Eve and celebrated that night with Tim's family. Every year his parents make an amazing feast of Prime Rib, shrimp, mashed potatoes, some fancy green beans, rolls, etc. It is so good! Everyone was there except for Tim's little brother, Mitch, who is on a mission. We missed him!
We ended up sleeping there that night and had quite the full house. It was so much fun though. As much as I really wanted to be at our own house for Christmas morning, I realized what a pain it would be to drive back and forth so much and how much fun it would be to stick around and play games with the adults on Christmas Eve. We had a great time. On Christmas Eve all of us opened our PJ's and my kids were so excited to FINALLY open a present. Above shows three of the boys (Will, Gavin and Easton) on Christmas morning in their matching PJ's.
Easton still wakes up super early - still has not adjusted to day light savings time. We knew he would be up by 5:30, but everyone said they were up for an early morning. I planned to stall him until Dylan woke up though. Just after 5:00 I woke up and went to check to make sure Easton was still in his bed. He was. Around 5:30 Tim woke up and I told him to check on Easton again. He found the bedroom door open to the room Easton and Dylan were sleeping in, but he couldn't see Easton. He went upstairs to find him and all was quiet with all the bedroom doors still closed. He finally found him standing quietly in the dark in the den. I guess he had gone upstairs and found Kevin and Stef asleep in the living room and asked for his mommy. Stef told him to go back downstairs to find us (sorry, Stef). He didn't quite make it to us, but I don't think he had been waiting for Tim long.
Shortly after that, Dylan woke up and they went up to wake up the masses. Just as we were ready to head back down to see what Santa had brought and open presents, Dylan says he wants breakfast first. I was shocked! What kid wants to wait to open presents and eat breakfast?!? So he had his oatmeal and then we were off.
Easton opened up his Jessie doll that Santa brought him (from Toy Story) and that was all he cared about. Once he had that, he started walking off to go upstairs to play, even though he still had a stack of presents. We successfully talked him in to sticking around to open up a few more. His cousin Will also got a Jessie doll (see below):
Dylan was so happy with EVERY present he opened (on Christmas morning at least...another story further down). He got a Legos set and a Zhu Zhu pet from Santa. Easton got a Zhu Zhu pet from Santa too. I think he knew it would limit the fighting in our house. Gavin slept through all of the Christmas morning excitement, but his brothers were so nice to open all of his presents for him. He would have just eaten the paper anyway.
We were all spoiled rotten (us parents included) by all of our loved ones. Tim, who has claimed our whole marriage that he isn't really into video games, talked his parents into getting us a Wii. He has been giddy like a little kid about it. Quite funny. We've all had fun with it.
After Christmas morning with Tim's family, we had breakfast and talked to Elder Jessop (Mitch) when he called. Then we were off to my parents house to open a few presents just among our little family to each other. Not long later, my siblings and their families showed up. We had fun playing with them and then did a gift exchange. All of the grand kids (minus Megan, she's too old) got Pillow Pets from Grandma and Grandpa which was at the top of their Christmas list.
Here's Grandma Stocking and Gavin. He loves to stand up holding onto someones hands and just rock side to side. Gavin's ladybug pillow pet is next to Uncle Justin. The grand kids all draw names of each other and exchange gifts on Christmas too. Dylan was opening his present from his cousin and after getting the wrapping paper off found a box for Soy Milk (his gift was inside). The look on his face was so funny - I wish I had caught it on camera. He asked why he had milk (somewhat disgusted). Yes, that was my ungrateful kid. Once he figured out that wasn't his present, he was super excited to find out what was inside.
My family draws names and makes gifts for each other. It is always fun to see the things my family comes up with. My sister-in-law, Mary, antiqued a frame for me and took a beautiful picture of the Logan temple that she framed inside. I love it!
After playing with my family for a while, we went up to Tim's grandparent's house in Lewiston to end the day. It was a great ending to the day spending more time with family and dancing to Grandpa Jessop playing songs on his guitar. Easton was obsessed with "Hokey Pokey" and threw the biggest fit when it was time to stop. It was definitely time for bed!!
Here's Tim's family (minus Mitch) on Christmas night:
Dylan with his cousin, Will:
Dylan dressing up in one of his new costumes. He loves to dress-up, but he has grown out of most of his costumes. We gave him some new ones for Christmas.Easton was constantly sporting the Santa hat this year. Then he and Dylan would build a "sleigh" on my bed with all of the pillows. Easton was usually Santa, and Dylan was Rudolph.
The following day started a few reunions with friends. We met up with some of Tim's high school buddies and their wives. It is always so much fun to catch up! Here is Brett, Kiel, Kyle, Tim and Travis:
The next day we met up in SLC with some of our best friends from San Antonio days. The kids had so much fun playing together. Here's Tillie, Easton, Dylan, Lucy and Kate:
Lindsay, Morgan, Tim, me, Aaron and Melissa. We had so much fun with these guys!
I finished off the Christmas weekend with one last party. My girlfriends got together and had such a fun time. We thought all nine of us were going to be there, but sick kids take priority and Jackie and Camille didn't get to come. We missed them! This is where we shared our 'favorite things' as mentioned in a previous post. We sure had some crazy talks (which still boggle my mind), but I loved spending time with these fun ladies!! I'm so glad we've stayed such great friends through the years!!
