JUNE 30
In the 1 year since we had lived in Colorado, we had never made it to Telluride . . . in fact we hadn't done most of the touristy things to do around here. When Tim's parents planned to come visit us, we figured it was time to become tourists for a short time. The first place we visited was Telluride. There is a free Gondola that takes you on quite a ride over the mountain. It was really neat and we all loved it. The mountains were so beautiful!
We got off at the top of the mountain to wander around to see what there was to see. There were tons of hiking trails and we saw a handful of people with their mountain bikes. I figured they were riding the trails, but I had no idea how crazy they got. When we boarded the Gondola to go to Mountain Village, we could see a few of them FLYING down the mountain on some tight chutes. CRAZY! I'm sure it was fun, but it looked so scary!
The best we could get of a picture with grandma. Typical of our life in this stage!!
Our little family with a fun phone booth:
In Mountain Village they had lots of shops and a little park where Dylan practiced rock climbing. He was so scared at first and so timid.
You can see his terrified face after he made it to the top:
After a few more climbs, he was quite speedy at it. It didn't take him long to gain some confidence. Look at the smile now:
After the park we rode the Gondola back to Telluride. We met this fun bear along the trail by the river on the way back to the car:
Gavin fell asleep in my arms just after the bear picture. The boys were such good troopers all day, but they were tired! We drove to the end of town to check out some waterfalls. This is what we could see from the car:
I'm curious what the house is at the top of the falls. If people really live there they are CRAZY! First off, it has got to be quite the trick to get to it, but so terrifying to live on the cliffs!
We loved the Gondola's at Telluride and will definitely be back to do it again!! We didn't even wander around the town so we'll have to do that on a future trip too!
