The Black Canyon

July 1
We had never heard of The Black Canyon (a National Park) until we visited Montrose. Then it took us a year of living here to go visit. Again, we are glad that Tim's parents came to visit which gave us a chance to be tourists! We weren't sure what we were going to see, but we loved it!

We drove along the rim and stopped at many little trails that lead to some beautiful overlooks. Dylan loved stopping at every little educational sign where grandma could help him read them to learn about the different animals and plants in the area. The kids were troopers for the most part!

The boys, Tim and Grandma Karen and Grandpa Rob:

A really neat bush we saw on one of our trails:
We (well, maybe just me) loved this neat old dead tree in the next few photos. I love this next picture of Easton and Gavin grinning at each other:

 My hot hubbie:
I was so grateful to have four adults to keep ahold of the kids rather than just the two of us! I'm pretty sure my heart raced the whole time we were there and didn't slow down until we were driving back home.

Active Little Boys + HUGE Cliffs = Uptight Mom! (but I still loved it and want to go back)

Do you see Gavin reaching to climb on the fence where he could EASILY slip through the holes? My heart races just thinking about it. Ah!
Dylan at our last stop with a great view of the steep canyon below. The pictures just don't do it justice, but it was very beautiful!
